The food stalls and Halwaiwallas of Delhi welcomed people from all walks of life. Be it a quick bite to eat, a secret rendezvous with a loved one, a long drawn political discourse or a prolonged business discussion over an βOld Monkβ rum β this is where it all happened. These food joints brought people together elegantly in a charmed, old world setting and served to break barriers. Slowly, over the years these iconic eateries have gradually disappeared, being replaced by swanky new concepts. At Madam Chutney, we strive to bring people together while recreating the nostalgic charm of these eateries in a modern setting, one bite at a time.
The chicken starters and the sweets are amazing. The Biryani was okay. What bugs me the most is that they don't offer extra bread on their menu. I mean, you guys have a kitchen, you have bread, you have chefs making it, why can't you toss a few extra on the pan? It's not like I want them for free...
Delicious dishes, friendly service, nice ambience, fair prices - highly recommended
Really good food
Wow how delicious! The starter βHoney Chili Paneerβ totally blows my mind, really great! In addition delicious butter chicken and garlic naan and we were absolutely thrilled! Picking up without pre-order was also great. Definitely try β?
Very nice ambience with good food. The service is really good and the staffs are very friendly.
One Restaraunt In Munich Which tastes as Indian food and ambience is also lively not like other Indian restraunts in Munich
Something strange, very European place. Tasty Indian food with a European twist. Good quality ingredients. Medium-friendly operation. Fair prices at lunchtime (butter chicken 9.90 euros). I don't know, but maybe that's called fusion.
Great experience! Loved the street food and cocktails! Will totally recommend :) Update: So we went there again and of course food and drinks were great, the food took more than 50mins to come. We saw that some guests were getting their food pretty promptly. Disappointed by that as we were getting quite impatient and irritated.
Very well! Excellent and above all authentic Indian cuisine! In addition, a friendly and attentive service! We are happy to give 5 stars and our special recommendation
Amazing service and even better food! Went here a few weeks ago and the waiter/manager was incredibly personal and nice. Highly recommend to all my friends!
Too much spice masks the taste of food
Great Biryani! The delivered food was packed well in biodegradable containers. The staff was also very helpful on call. Their dishes are innovative and delicious. The ambience at the restaurant is quirky and fun. The staff is very friendly. One of the best Indian restaurants in Munich!
Best Indian food in town!
We started with some snacks and those were pretty okay. For the main course we ordered Dal Makhani & Chana Bhatura. The main course was horrible as chole were not fully cooked and also very spicy and bhature looked really uncooked. Dal Makhani was the biggest disaster because it was smelling too strongly of the burnt dal. Overall place is bit dark, dingy and Overpriced.
Excellent Indian cuisine and excellent starters. The restaurant is very well attended, so a reservation is definitely recommended (even during the week). But the staff was also very helpful and friendly to find a place for us non-reservations. I would love to come back and I will definitely be back
The best butter chicken, malai chicken tikka, I had outside India. The main course dishes reminds me of 'back to home' feeling. Great taste and this place indeed gives a real Indian food. Highly recommended, Must visit place for all Indian food lovers.
Amazing authentic mouth watering fare! Felt at home with food way better than home food! (Sorry Mom! ; )). Highly recommend for a good Indian food experience. Great service too. Loved it.
Great food, super cosy, friendly staff and quick service!
Best Indian food in Town, definitely will visit again soon.
Great ambience, great food and great service! Highly recommend for people who are craving for truly authentic Indian dilli style food.
Great food, prices are completely normal and the staff is very friendly. Whenever we are there, we are completely satisfied.
Great service and amazing food. Authentic I dian street food and main course dishes. Good vibes. Yummy food and happy tummy ?
Great place with authentic indian Street food options....no local customizations. We tried maska pav bhaji, papri chat and pani-puri...loved all of them?
Must visit restaurant, best Indian food we have tried in Munich. Warm, friendly service with a stylish and modern ambience. The food was very tasty and authentic. For me, this was the highlight. The prices are a bit higher compared to the regular Indian restaurants but you can really taste the difference in quality and taste. Make sure to reserve in advance. Gladly again!
I had given up on finding good Indian food in Germany - until I discovered Madam Chutney. The place was highly recommended by friends who had visited. The Butter chicken and Chana Bhatura is out of the world. Being from Delhi, this is the exact taste you would expect. The Chana Bhatura was spicy but this is the way it is authentically prepared. Honey chilli paneer was also delicious. Ended the meal on a sweet note with the Kulfi Falooda which was very satisfying and again of a very high quality. We ended the evening with very full stomachs and happy hearts :-) Already looking forward to our next visit!
I'm only rating the service here because we didn't even come to eat. I made a reservation through the website. After we arrived they said they had contacted us by phone and email that they would close for lunch. Strangely enough, I never received an email or a phone call. Why is it even possible to book via the website when it is closed for lunch due to Corona?
Totally overrated. Prices like a luxury restaurant but ambience, food and, above all, service, like a 0815 restaurant. There are much better Indian restaurants in Munich with better value for money. Unfortunately has nothing to do with the former Madam chutney. Too bad.
Service was satisfactory, but unfortunately, the food was unimpressive and not worth the hype. My friends and I ordered the panipuri/golgappe, papri chat, channa batura, smoked chicken curry and falooda. Except the chicken curry, none of the other dishes were as expected. The channa dish was small(barely any gravy) and the falooda was just kulfi with vermicelli noodles(yummy :), but not a milkshake as expected/authentic). Prices are higher than many other Indian places, and on top of that we were charged for a rice refill, which is uncommon here. All in all, wouldn't recommend.
The food was very tasty. And very authentic. I will come back to you dinner soon.
Excellent Indian food. Finally a place which delivers on the authentic Indian taste and offers a warm, friendly ambience. The street food appetizers (samosa, papdi chaat) were also excellent and spicy, will definitely visit again.
Good indian food
Good ambience.. One visit was good enough to make this place among my favorite restaurans in Munich...
We were there on Monday. We wanted to order drinks nobody came to us, it took a long time for us to get drinks and then the food was so clean. A service lady was standing next to us, she was on her cell phone the whole time and was unfriendly. Service was 0 for me and that food was also 0. When we finished eating, I said to service you please take the dishes, wake-up. I was second now Time there and same experience as last time. Disappointed
Food is amazing, but the service was poor (Only had 1 drink each because no one attended us at all. Waited for an hour with empty plates in front of us until they cleared the table. Also took forever to pay, even though we were waving for them with both arms like crazy.) Vibe could be cosier, feels like one huge dining hall. Still, Iβll be back for the food.
Amazing authentic Indian food. Vibe of the place is exactly like a dhaba in India. Their makhan malai tikka was melt-in-the-mouth delicious
Madam Chutney 2.0 and were we in for a HUGE surprise. The new place is fantastic right from the front door! Staff were very attentive, we were a group of 4 and tried Golgappas, Kheema Pav, Chole Bhatura, Kathi Roll, Malai Tikka. Everything was tasty and awesome but Malai Tikka was out of the world! Drinks had a Desi twist on some classic cocktails prepared really well. Service was quick and done with smiles and friendly chitchat. By far the best Indian restaurant in Germany. 1.0 to 2.0, the team has truly outdone itself!
When ordering home it said it would take an hour to deliver. We waited two and a half. Nobody can be reached on the telephone number given. It's probably okay to eat in a restaurant - for delivery it's a catastrophe!
Overpriced
I have heard about Madam Chutney from Indian friends and finally yesterday had the chance to try it for myself. The ambience of the place is modern Indian modeled after best Delhi restaurants' style. Its a spacious restaurant with a bar, large seating area and an outdoor courtyard. The food was excellent and probably the best Indian food in town. We had the Samosa Chaat, Pav Bhaji, Lamb Nihari and Dal Makahani along with Garlic Naan and Laccha Parantha. It was truly delicious, so be careful not to overeat. :) Services was also excellent. We were greeted and very well attended to the entire evening. Madam Chutney is truly authentic Indian, so if you are not good with spices, remember to ask for a milder option.
Authentic North Indian cuisine, definitely not your average. The staff were very attentive and it has a great atmosphere.
Food - Posting again with details of visit and name of the dish - We visited the restaurant last week on the weekend and ordered 2 things Paneer Lababdar and Chana bhature ..Chanas were very very very spicy and not fully cooked.. Paneer on the contrary was very sweet. Overall not like we expected. Also the food is expensive. Service and ambiance- Not at all welcoming, the place is in a cellar with less air circulation.
We being regular customers know this place since long (from the very beginning). But this time the quantity and quality was really bad (Paapdi chaat and channa Bhatoora). A big disappointment. Which is the reason for posting this review. Takeaway even a couple of months back when service in restaurant was not allowed was great and we relished the food. But this time was a big disappointment. Hope this review is taken positively and improved upon.
Great dinner. All the tables were full but they found us a seat in no time. The food is great. The service is quality and the staff are polite. The place has a nice decor.
Excellent food and great ambience!
Best Indian I've found in Munich so far and I've lived here 8 years!
The restaurant can get very crowded, so better to make a reservation. The ambience is nice but the music is a bit too loud for holding a pleasant conversation. The staff is friendly however the service is super super slow. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get the menu and another 45 minutes to get the food. The food was good but the portion size could have been slightly larger.
We visited Madam Chutney with friends. We were greeted warmly and seated as soon as we arrived. Service was prompt and friendly. The ambience was very cozy and reservations are recommended. The samosa chaat was excellent and tasted like what you get in Delhi and the butter chicken and lamb nihari, were authentically Indian. A bit on the spicy side but this is what you would expect at a proper indian restaurant. Also the ambience is classy and different- it smartly and elegantly breaks the typical cliche that most Indian restaurants follow. Can only highly recommend and will be back soon. Keep up the quality and the great food!
Great Indian food. Very spicy but you have options. There is no outside terrace and it's in the cellar (which is beautiful) but very little air circulation. It's not the cheapest Indian food we ever had but worth to try. Especially because there are very different dishes to try with a bit of history information to it. Mango lassi was delicious
Overrated!! I went for a dinner with 8 friends. Quantity of food is very less as compared to other Indian restaurants in town. Taste is below average. Service is average. PRICE....ohhh dear. You have to pay almost double the price for single meal. I mean ambiance is also very ordinary. MADAM CHUTNEY, what are you charging for??
Super delicious Indian food! A reservation in advance is an advantage.
